What is the International Baccalaureate?

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) is an educational program with its own assessment system for students aged 16-19.

La Miranda the Global Quality School is an official IB school which is authorized to teach the International Baccalaureate from the academic year 2021-2022.

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) is a two-year, comprehensive, balanced and demanding educational program characterized by its own rigorous philosophy, study program and assessment systems, created by the International Baccalaureate Organization, which was founded in 1968.

The IB programme, which will be offered at La Miranda in Spanish and English, offers a curriculum designed for students who have completed 4th of ESO and who wish to develop their abilities to the maximum and prepare for the university world with more depth and maturity. The objective of the International Baccalaureate (IB) is to educate students to achieve an excellent breadth and depth of their knowledge, while growing physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically.

La Miranda · The Global Quality School is one of the schools that belongs to ASIBI (the Iberian Association of International Baccalaureate Schools) recognized by OIB.

ASIBI was created in 2015. The true strength of this organization is the collaboration between schools, greatly benefiting cooperative work and helping our students to fulfill their own potential leading them to succeed in their future.

International Baccalaureate (IB) Curriculum

The IB Programme at La Miranda aims to train its students to be reflective, to acquire critical thinking skills, to acquire an active attitude towards learning and to instill values that will accompany students throughout their lives. At La Miranda we have designed the curriculum for our students so that they can obtain a double Diploma qualification: Spanish National Baccalaureate and The International Baccalaureate. Our students will also obtain the Bilingual Diploma IB.

The assessment

Students will be evaluated externally, through the IB and will also be evaluated on a regular basis with an internal evaluation thats takes place at school, and which is evaluated by their teachers in accordance with the strict IB guidelines of quality control.

The profile of the learning community

Informed by the International Baccalaureate (IB) mission to develop active, compassionate and lifelong learners, the IB programs foster a distinctive set of attributes. These qualities embodied in the IB learner profile prepare IB students to be prepared for the future. They are: Inquirers, Knowledgeable, Thinkers, Communicators, Principled, Open-minded, Caring, Risk-takers, Balanced, Reflective.

International Baccalaureate students at our school will develop a unique and important skill set for being citizens of the world. Through their studies and engagements with international students and subjects they will learn to be inquirers and will learn to be critical thinkers. They will show an open mind towards other cultures and will learn to respect others opinions.

International Baccalaureate students are citizens of the world.
